Diabetes is growing into a worldwide epidemic due in part to heredity and genetics, but also because of changes in lifestyle. It is a multidimensional problem that affects the physical, mental, and financial health of individuals with diabetes and has ricochet effects in the world as a whole.

The good news is that studies have shown that type 2 diabetes can be prevented, and that with all types of diabetes better management means prevention of complications. Armed with the right knowledge and tools, people with diabetes can now lead long healthy lives.

People need diabetes education to acquire the knowledge necessary to successfully manage this epidemic. Most health care practitioners do not have the specialized education or hours it takes to impart more than cursory knowledge to their patients. Certified Diabetes Educators do. Certified Diabetes Educators are qualified health care professionals who have spent many hours working with people who have diabetes and have passed an exam certifying their excellence in diabetes education.

I am a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) who has been working with people with diabetes for over 30 years in various settings. I work directly with people with diabetes, coordinate programs, write for various diabetes magazines and websites, and provide consultation for companies who want to reach the diabetes community. I have also applied for and received American Diabetes Association Recognition.

I want to help those with diabetes improve their health and quality of life. I also want to help your company reach out to improve the lives of people with diabetes.
